Ana Fernández-Aballí Altamirano

Postdoctoral researcher Marie Skłodowska-Curie

Dr. Ana Fernández-Aballí Altamirano is a Marie Curie researcher at the Centre for Religion, Conflict and Globalization. She specializes in participatory action research (PAR) and explores the intersection between ontological diversity, environmental education and public policy. Her current project, ODEEN: Ontological Diversity in Environmental Education, examines how different worldviews influence ecological commitment and sustainability practices. She has a degree in Economics and a master's degree in Communication. She obtained her PhD from Pompeu Fabra University, where she developed and applied Paulo Freire's epistemological framework to community development.

 

Her thesis received the Extraordinary Doctoral Award. Before joining the University of Groningen, she was a postdoctoral researcher at ISOR, the Research Group in the Sociology of Religion at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and a professor at Pompeu Fabra University. She has also worked extensively in international cooperation, community research and project development, coordinating numerous European initiatives on education, social inclusion and environmental justice. Her career includes collaborations with grassroots organizations, international NGOs and religious and advocacy groups in Latin America and Europe, especially in Cuba and Spain, focusing on interculturality, environmental awareness and social transformation.
