Who we are

About BCURE
BCURE is the Laboratory for the Study of Culture and Religion, of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
A research space that focuses on how culture and religion participate in the configuration of collective imaginaries, value systems and conflicts that cross contemporary societies.
BCURE emerges as a renewal of the ISOR group (Research in Sociology of Religion), with over forty years of trajectory at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
We maintain our academic roots and our commitment to empirical analysis, while broadening horizons with a clear interdisciplinary, diverse, and international vocation.

We are an interdisciplinary research group that combines intellectual openness, creativity, theoretical solidity and scientific rigour. We understand research as a tool to think through complexity, generate critical knowledge, and open spaces for dialogue between knowledges, disciplines, and experiences.
Our pillars are epistemic justice, the gender perspective and climate justice, from which we promote open, inclusive and collaborative research.
BCURE is a space of welcome, exchange, and critical reflection for research professionals who share an interest in understanding the transformations of the contemporary world.
