Research Support Technician
Expertise: Sociology of Culture, Communication, Social Networks, Youth, Gender
Laia Garcia Muñoz is a research support technician at BCURE-UAB (Laboratory of Contemporary Studies on Culture and Religion). Her research interests focus on the intersection of the sociology of culture, communication, social network studies, and youth cultures, with a particular focus on how these dynamics interact with gender to generate new social imaginaries and practices. She holds a degree in Sociology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and is currently completing a Master's in Communication Research at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). The intersection of both fields has allowed her to develop research topics related to identity representations on social media and youth imaginaries around screen time.
She has also collaborated on research projects linked to the Centre for Sociological Studies on Everyday Life and Work (QUIT) at UAB, the Department of Social Psychology at UAB, and the Communication, Advertising & Society (CAS) group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, contributing to interdisciplinary projects connecting sociology, psychology, and communication. She is also co-founder and coordinator of Deltes.cat, an independent social science outreach project.
