Mar Griera

Professor of Sociology

Expertise: Religious Diversity, Spirituality, Contemporary Sociological Theory

Professor of the Department of Sociology at the UAB, and since 2016 director of the ISOR research group. She has been a visiting researcher at the University of Lausanne (2016), Boston University (2009), the University of Amsterdam (2008), the University of Exeter (2006) and Strasbourg (2004). Her research has been awarded numerous prizes such as the “la Caixa” Prize for Social Sciences (2003), the extraordinary doctoral thesis prize (2009) and the “Manuel Sales i Farré” Prize in Sociology (2011) from the Institut d'Estudis Catalans. Her research focuses on investigating the intersection between religion, spirituality, identity and politics in contemporary Europe. She has coordinated several competitive projects in these areas, and has published her results extensively in academic journals and books. It is also worth highlighting Dr. Griera's involvement in knowledge transfer activities with public administrations and civil society.
