Dr. Marta Simó Sánchez is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and in the MIDE Department of the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Barcelona (UB). His teaching covers areas such as general sociology, sociology of religion, global politics, interculturality and conflict management.
A PhD in Sociology from the UAB, her research focuses on Holocaust memory in Spain, contemporary anti-Semitism, intercultural and human rights education, and Jewish identities in European contexts. She has participated in numerous international competitive projects, such as Stories that Move, Shifts in Holocaust Memory, FORCED and Meritage, and has published in books and academic journals of international scope.
She has been a researcher and guest lecturer at institutions such as the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Catholic University of Valencia, the University of Valencia, the University of Haifa or the Moscow Holocaust Research and Education Center, and is part of academic networks such as the European Association for Holocaust Studies, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and the Simone Veil Extraordinary Chair.
Their work combines academic research with knowledge transfer to civil society and public institutions, collaborating with the Parliament of Catalonia, the Generalitat of Catalonia and various museums and educational centers to promote historical memory and the fight against racism and anti-Semitism.
