The main objective of the International Network of Science, Religion and Health is to foster collaboration among researchers working at the intersection of science, religion and health.
The network has three main lines of action .
To stimulate communication and theoretical cross-fertilization among researchers to advance the understanding of social and cultural narratives about science, religion/spirituality, and health.
To identify, systematize and disseminate existing research on this topic, and to create a directory of researchers who investigate the topic in Europe.
Promote training and mentoring activities for beginning academics working in this field worldwide.
More specifically, we focus on research that takes place around the following three dimensions :
The mobilization of science and religious/spiritual knowledge in the understanding of life, illness, and death.
The debates, controversies and dynamics surrounding biomedical technologies (vaccines, chemotherapy, gene therapy).
And the crystallization of scientific and religious debates in healthcare provision. We consider these three health-related fields as privileged sites for exploring the intersection between religion/spirituality and science in the international context.
The network will prioritize research that meets the following two conditions :
It has an empirical dimension.
It is carried out from the perspective of the social sciences and humanities.
The Network is funded by the International Research Network for the Study of Science and Belief in Society (INSBS).
Among the various activities planned for the network, we highlight the 2024 Webinar Series, which you can access and follow:
