
Wilson Muñoz Henriquez

Dr. Wilson Muñoz is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Sociology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a researcher at the Faculty of Education and Humanities at the University of Tarapacá (UTA-Chile).
His research is situated at the intersection of religiosity, space, mobility and intangible heritage. He is particularly interested in how the ritual manifestations of migrant populations are configured as heritage, ethnic and health expressions in spaces marked by social invisibility. He has developed these interests over more than fifteen years of research in projects carried out in Chile, Bolivia, Peru, as well as in Barcelona and Rome.
Dr. Muñoz has received numerous grants and awards from French institutions, such as the Collège de France, the CNRS, the EHESS and the UNESCO (Young Researchers' Fellowship Programme); of Chile, such as the Pontificia Universidad Católica, the Ministry of Education (Presidente of the Republic Scholarship), CONICYT and the National Council of Cultures and Arts (FONDART Award); as well as the Spanish State Research Agency (Juan de la Cierva Program) and the Government of Japan (Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowships). As a PhD student, he has carried out research stays at the Université Toulouse – Jean Jaurès and the Università Roma III, among others.
He has also carried out outstanding activity for the rescue and dissemination of cultural heritage. He is a founding member and researcher of the Challa Foundation and Challa Ediciones, dedicated to the creation and management of participatory projects with indigenous communities. He has also coordinated workshops to preserve Andean knowledge (ANID) and is actively involved in indigenous associations and communities.
